Wrapping Room

One of the most exciting presents a young person can receive is a bicycle, but it is also one of the most difficult presents of all to give as a surprise present. Here we will look at some methods of gift wrapping a bike.
The easiest way is to not wrap it at all apart from tying a large broad ribbon round it. In this case it is obviously impossible to hide what it is, but the general technique is to place it in another room or a garage and just tell the recipient to open the door.
Another way is to use an oversized gift bag. It is quite possible to purchase gift bags that have been made specifically for wrapping bicycles. These bags can generally put to good storage use subsequently, and most of them are recyclable so disposal is not a problem. These bags can be purchased for a little under £10.00.
If you don’t want to splash out a custom made bicycle gift bag, you can always try to wrap the bike yourself. It might be possible to find a cardboard box large enough to put the bicycle in, but generally this is not easy. Alternatively you can obtain some large cardboard packing cases or sheets of cardboard and use then to make a box. Duct tape is by far the easiest way to create joins between the cardboard pieces.
Once you have made an appropriately sized box, you can cover it with pieces of contrasting wrapping paper in a random fashion to make it look attractive and exciting. You can consider finishing it off with a large ribbon bow.
Another technique is disguise. By attaching a variety of items to the bicycle, for instance bunches of balloons and wooden or plastic hoops, its shape can be totally disguised. This odd shaped creation that you cave made can then be simply wrapped up in gift wrap. The wrapping and unwrapping of this can be a lot of fun.
