How to Tie the Perfect Multiple Looped Gift Bow

A perfect bow tied in a beautiful ribbon can add that special touch to a lovingly wrapped gift. Here we will describe how to tie a bow with multiple loops.

First we should select a ribbon of two or more centimetres width depending on the size of the gift you are wrapping. We recommend that you use as wide a ribbon as possible as wider ribbons make more attractive bows.  You will need a reasonable length of it, say around two metres, but it will need to be longer if you are going to use more than six or so loops. You will also need some 24 gauge craft wire and some scissors.

Allowing about ten centimetres for the tail of the bow, grip the ribbon between your thumb and index finger, with the best face of the ribbon on the top. Next twist the ribbon twice and hold the twist between your thumb and index finger.

Bend the ribbon to form a loop and place the twist that you have made under the initial double twist.  Repeat this until you have made several loops (at least three) with each successive loop a little longer than the previous one. Repeat the process for the other side of the bow. You can make more loops if you wish, but the more loops you make the more difficult it gets to hold them all together.

Use the craft wire to hold the loops together. The wire should be twisted tightly. Holding the wire, manipulate the loops to form an attractive bow. To finish off, you should trim the ends of the ribbons at an angle of about forty five degrees or into an offset point.

Finally, use the craft wire to attach the ribbon to the gift.

It might take a few attempts to perfect this technique, but once you have you will find that you have added a whole new dimension to your gift wrapping.
